History

Built by Nils Hanson, known as “the Guv’nor,” under the ownership of Mr. Teddy Clauson, The Baker Hotel opened its doors for the first time on October 31st, 1923. Prominently located in the heart of downtown Cranbrook, the prestigious Baker Hotel had the largest and finest rooms available and offered the most sophisticated accommodations in the area. Teddy advertised The Baker Hotel as being, “Quiet. Clean. Comfortable.” and as “modern throughout.” Qualities that the current ownership strives to continue to this day. The advertised rates of “$1.50 and up” have changed, however.

While the esteem of the Baker continued for many decades, after multiple changes in ownership, it slowly fell into decay – until now. In 2018 the Baker Hotel was purchased by Greg Eaton with the intention to restore the historic landmark to its former glory. With many renovations and upgrades already complete and many more planned and underway, the Baker Hotel is proud to offer a luxury boutique hotel experience once more.
